Russian S-400 missiles turn most of Syria into no-fly zone, halt US air strikes

The deployment of the highly advanced Russian S-400 anti-air missiles at the Khmeimin base, Russia’s military enclave in Syria near Latakia, combined with Russia electronic jamming and other electronic warfare equipment, has effectively transformed most of Syria into a no-fly zone under Russian control.

Moscow deployed the missiles last Wednesday, Nov. 25, the day after Turkish warplanes downed a Russian Su-24. Since then, the US and Turkey have suspended their air strikes over Syria, including bombardments of Islamic State targets. The attacks on ISIS in Iraq continue without interruption. Turkey is now extra-careful to avoid flights anywhere near the Syrian border.

Both the US and Turkey are obviously wary of risking their planes being shot down by the S-400, so long as Russian-Turkish tensions run high over the Su-24 incident.

Friday, a US-led coalition spokesperson denied that the absence of anti-IS coalition air strikes had anything to do with the S-400 deployment in Syria. He said “The fluctuation or absence of strikes in Syria reflects the ebb and flow of battle.”
However, DEBKAfile’s military sources confirm that neither the US, Turkey or Israel have any real experience in contending with the Russian S-400, which uses multiple missile variants to shoot down stealth aircraft, UAVs, cruise missiles and sub-strategic ballistic missiles. Its operational range for aerodynamic targets is about 250 km and for ballistic targets 60 km. The S-400 can engage up to 36 targets simultaneously.

The interventionists will do anything to prevent Americans from seeing that their foreign policies are perpetuating terrorism and inspiring others to seek to harm us. The neocons know that when it is understood that blowback is real – that people seek to attack us not because we are good and free but because we bomb and occupy their countries – their stranglehold over foreign policy will begin to slip.

That is why each time there is an event like the killings in Paris earlier this month, they rush to the television stations to terrify Americans into agreeing to even more bombing, more occupation, more surveillance at home, and more curtailment of our civil liberties. They tell us we have to do it in order to fight terrorism, but their policies actually increase terrorism.

If that sounds harsh, consider the recently-released 2015 Global Terrorism Index report. The report shows that deaths from terrorism have increased dramatically over the last 15 years – a period coinciding with the “war on terrorism” that was supposed to end terrorism.

According to the latest report:

Terrorist activity increased by 80 per cent in 2014 to its highest recorded level. …The number of people who have died from terrorist activity has increased nine-fold since the year 2000.

The world’s two most deadly terrorist organizations, ISIS and Boko Haram, have achieved their prominence as a direct consequence of US interventions.

Former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Michael Flynn was asked last week whether in light of the rise of ISIS he regrets the invasion of Iraq. He replied, “absolutely. …The historic lesson is that it was a strategic failure to go into Iraq.” He added, “instead of asking why they attacked us, we asked where they came from.”

While the world continues to condemn Israel, it too has become the target for terrorist attacks. IFCJ Senior Vice President Yael Eckstein writes that the world must not hold Israel to a different and unfair standard as we all fight this war against terror:

Life in Israel has not been easy these past few weeks. With the wave of terrorism only gaining strength, it feels like every day we are bidding a teary farewell to too many sacred souls. The terrorists’ fight to claim and wreak havoc on what they – and most of the Western world – call the “occupied territories,” has transformed into a strategic plan to terrorize and torture all of Israel…

I have tried for years to think of a reasonable explanation why the world treats Israel so unfairly, yet I have not found one.

Many Israelis have said that the world simply doesn’t understand our struggle.

But what I have seen is that despite the baseless terrorism that is now striking the West, the trend of justifying terrorism against Israel is continuing. Following terrorist attacks in Paris and Mali, the world is outraged – with good reason.

Unlimited prayers and support are pouring in responding to the possible attacks in Brussels. I haven’t seen any mainstream politician or media outlet try to rationalize why these terrorist attacks are taking place, or to put blame on the policies of the targeted countries.

It is heartening to see how terrorist attacks against innocent people in Paris, Mali, and across the Middle East have been immediately and wholeheartedly condemned by world leaders and civilians alike, without any second thoughts. Yet why are there different standards when it comes to Israel?

Russian Su-34 bombers, additionally equipped with air-to-air missiles, have set out on their first mission in Syria, said Igor Klimov, spokesman for the Russian Air Force. “Today, Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers have made their first sortie equipped not only with high explosive aviation bombs and hollow charge bombs, but also with short- and medium-range air-to-air missiles,” Klimov said. “The planes are equipped with missiles for defensive purposes,” he added. The missiles have target-seeking devices and are “capable of hitting air targets within a 60km radius,” he said.

Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber operating in Syria on November 24, with Ankara claiming that the warplane had violated Turkish airspace. Moscow has rejected the claims, saying that according to its military intelligence the Su-24 never left Syrian airspace. On Monday, Turkey’s prime minister said that Ankara will not apologize for the incident.

The Global Warming scam got off to a great start on it’s way to making Al Gore a billionaire, then disaster struck. A new Inquisition

Four hundred years ago, from 1610 to 1633, the Roman Catholic Church thought it knew more about the solar system than Galileo Galilei. So it subjected Galileo to an Inquisition.

Now, in 2015, Pope Francis thinks he knows more about climate science than thousands of educated climate scientists (like me). So the Pope wants a new Inquisition for those who tell you the truth about climate change.

The fallible Pope Frances "believes" global warming is "mainly" man-made. He believes the Paris summit must implement a Global Warming treaty or our environment is toast. He believes global warming hurts the poor.

He’s wrong on all counts. The loss of carbon-dioxide-restricted abundant cheap energy, not global warming, hurts the poor.

Although the Catholic Church does not claim the Pope is "infallible" in matters of science, few people understand this technicality. So the Pope, with his great influence, does great damage to truth with his false claims about science.

Pope Frances said of the upcoming Paris Climate summit that runs from November 30 to December 11,

"It would be sad, and dare I say even catastrophic, were special interests to prevail over the common good and lead to manipulating information in order to protect their own plans and interests."

The Pope "special interests" refer to the thousands of climate scientists who understand why our carbon dioxide emissions do not threaten the planet, and to Republican lawmakers and presidential candidates who agree with these scientists.

As for "manipulating information," its the other guys who are manipulating the data to support their failed climate theory.

My reaction to the latest shooting was probably similar to many people’s; a tense anticipation to Obama’s call for more gun control, and the fear that it could have been retaliation against Planned Parenthood and their brutal practice of selling baby body parts. That would have been a liberal’s dream come true. An actual right wing conservative going on a murder spree would have provided the needed justification for why conservative Christians are labeled as potential extremists. It turns out however, that our "Dear" shooter was just another in a long line of liberal whackos taking out their frustrations with society and feelings of self-hatred on everybody else. You see, Mr. Dear self identifies as a woman and is not registered with any political party, so the leftwing narrative of a disgruntled Republican nut job going off has once again, been proven false. It must be real frustrating for the left to know that real right wing Christians are not committing acts of terror that they can blame on us. Liberals would love to say that that the so called hateful speech concerning the exposed practices at planned parenthood are responsible for the shooting. If this is the case then wouldn’t the same be true for Obama’s rhetoric concerning Islam and Black Lives Matter? I’m sorry, but the left can’t have it both ways.
