Throughout the night, several waves of alarms sounded in the Hof Ashkelon, Sha’ar Hanegev and Eshkol regions, outside Gaza, sending thousands of Israelis into bomb shelters. According to the Israel Defense Forces, 36 projectiles were fired at southern Israel on Wednesday night, including the eight that were launched at Sderot. Four of the 36 were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, the army said. “The majority of the rockets hit open areas,” the IDF said in a statement.
